Seattle Cruise Control’s event to bring attention to the environmental harms of cruise ships was joyful, lively, music filled and impactful!
Watch this video:
There was a great turnout; all the kids did a fantastic job; speakers and Red Rebels were powerful; the Anti-Fascist Marching Band provided an upbeat and lively vibe; and passengers were smiling as they slowly filed past all the activity!
Perhaps most important, there was important media attention on the issue of cruise harms! Check out this informative op-ed in The Urbanist by Elizabeth Burton & Cary Moon; letters to the editor about cruise ship shore power by Stacy Oaks & Peggy Printz; coverage of the demonstration in the Seattle Times; & an interview on WOB Radio about labor exploitation & climate justice.
SSCAN thanks all the participants who brought attention to this important issue.
